Gypsy

It's been awhile since I've been here..life happens and before you know it, a year has already flown by. So many changes..
This summer in particular was one of the best though. Kinda sad to see it go.  My best friend came for a visit from California, and we decided to do an impromptu photo shoot on a gray day here in Oregon. So much fun, and a perfect reminder to always stay inspired and know it's ok to get a little crazy.

Twilight eyes

After our move to the Pacific Northwest this summer, we've hardly had a chance for decorating and preparing for the Halloween holiday, something that we always do.  Pumpkin carving, mantle decorating, putting together costumes, shopping for mums..have all been put on the back burner this year.  It's been so hectic, just trying to get settled, and get our bearings.  I was feeling so bad for my daughter, I decided to at least do a quick photo shoot together, to get in the mood.  And since we suddenly live in a Twilight movie.  Thought this was appropriate.

Happy Halloween!

youth arts advocates at the okcmoa

Last night we went to the Oklahoma city Museum of Art http://www.okcmoa.com/ for the youth arts advocates night, the first ever teen council.  The museum stayed open late just for the kids (teens), to peruse the exhibits and do some interactive art themselves.  There was live music on the rooftop and a costume contest for best art related theme or character.  Little Willow never passes up a chance to dress up, so she decided to be the lovely Frida Kahlo.  I think she looked very much like her.  What do you think?
P.S the vintage earrings that she is wearing will be in the shop later this week.

Here are a few more shots of the night

Willow and the blank canvas..getting ready for some interactive art

Part of the Okc skyline..on the roof of the museum

And a little bit of that beautiful Oklahoma sunset

I love this Chihuly glass sculpture in the entrance.
I wish I would have thought to have taken a few more pictures of the
evening. Like the music, food, and of course more of the art.
But I was guess I was just a bit preoccupied with all the fun I was having
with the family.  XO

and as summer comes to a close...

South Padre Island, TX.

Kicking off summer, memorial day weekend.
My love and I
Today was such a gorgeous, and I mean GORGEOUS day..we have endured over 60 days of 100 + degree heat here in Oklahoma, and today was a whopping 82!  It was heavenly..And made me realize that summer is coming to an end, and fall is just around the very thankful corner.  But despite the scorching heat, it really has been a most fabulous summer.  I thought I would post a bit more summer photo fun pics, taken from my phone.  Using my new most favorite apps, hipstamatic and the awesome instagram.

our Swiss adventure

One of my very best friends all the way back from high school, just moved to Switzerland with her husband and two girls.  We somehow managed to get away this summer to go see them.  Ahhh..the BEAUTY of that place.  It was absolutely breathtaking, every direction you turned.  It was a trip of a lifetime.  I imagined myself shopping at flea market after flea market, and loading up on all kinds of treasures.  But instead (sigh).., found my self lounging around the lake most afternoons, eating lots of delicious food, wine and of course, chocolate.  As a matter of fact, that is the only thing I managed to bring back home with me.  LOTS of chocolate.

Nevertheless, I would change not a thing.
Here are a few pictures from our adventure...

The three amigos..our daughter in the center.

Lounging on the shores of Lake Geneva. The girls decided there
were probably mermaids in that lake.  And affectionately named
them "The Mermaids of Lac Leman".  This is a sculpture they made
for them.

Farmers Market across the border in France.  A food lovers paradise..

Buttery, flaky, almond-y goodness!

Gruyere

And what better place to have fondue and a meat platter?

My husband and I enjoying a little after dinner limoncella.

And of course, walking through Geneva, the girls had
to stop and observe a fashion show in one of the shop
windows...such fashionistas.

snow days

I think I am certainly MORE than ready for spring.  The buds on the trees and flowers..the fresh, clean, crisp  air and bright blue skies.  The first glimspe of the daffodils peeking up through the ground.  But there is something to say about a snow day..when schools and businesses are closed and you are forced to stay home and just BE.  More time with the family, more time in the kitchen, and more time getting the rest that we seem to have forgotten to give ourselves.
Yesterday was spent watching old movies..today was spent playing in the snow with my daughter, making a wonderful hearty lunch, and just lying around the house with my husband and girl...Priceless.

Getting ready to head out

Willow and her adorable upcycled legwarmers, made from old sweater sleeves.

Our garden fairy, that will be soon be surrounded by blooming spring flowers.

Taking a rest.

My lovely and I..

And this is what we had waiting for us inside...
